Interested In Becoming A Foster Carer?

Short term carers for animals are always needed as wherever possible we try to place them into the environment they are accustomed to or will be expecting.  Kennels are necessary at times and obviously unavoidable in large scale rescues but as we offer a more personal service concentrating largely on quality of care, we try to keep isolation to a minimum.  A kennel environment can sometimes excaserbate problems such as anxiety with particularly anxious dogs sometimes causing damage to themselves both physically and mentally.  Many of the animals we deal with are going through a difficult time. They may need further assessment in a home environment, housetraining, be suffering from separation anxiety, need to be separated from other animals, fed on special diets, need vet trips and medicines administered. Most rescue animals make fantastic pets given time and understanding but can be a great test of patience and dedication in the initial stages of rehabilitation. We ask that all of our foster carers show dedication to these animals and the rescue cause.  Depending on popularity , age, size, breed and temperament animals can take from a few days to a few months to rehome and we aim for minimum disruption to their already complicated lives.  Fosterers should be prepared for toilet accidents and a few sleepless nights amongst other teething problems.  This is not always the case of course, like humans all animals are unique and some are better behaved and better able to cope than others!   We supply food and the necessary equipment for you to look after one of our needy animals until we find them a permanent home. We appreciate fosterers and volunteers offering to transport animals for veterinary care and microchipping.  See Volunteering page for details of other help needed.
